How does the new space connect to the original floor plan? What happens to the sightlines? Do the flooring, millwork, lighting and finishes feel cohesive from one area to the next?
The goal is for the addition to feel intentional – not like something that was simply attached later.
Think Beyond What You Need Today
A major renovation, remodel or addition is also an opportunity to think a little further ahead. How might your family use the home five or ten years from now?
Could that office eventually become something else? Will the new layout still make sense as your family changes? Could an expanded main floor give you more flexibility later?
